I used to have low self-esteem and wasn't very good at dealing with people, but now I've gained a lot of self-confidence through continuous learning, and I'm actively learning interpersonal skills, such as cultivating a sense of humor and expanding my network to improve my social skills, and everything is progressing steadily. But occasionally, thoughts still pop up, thinking that it's too late to grow up now, isn't it? Is it possible that I'm inherently so far behind everyone else? Time feels particularly short. I understand that I shouldn't dwell on this all the time, but I still get this anxiety from time to time, so how do I channel it?
Hi friends, I'm Fuji the whale social worker.
First of all, I'd like to give you a warm hug! The fact that you're able to boost your confidence through self-study and are still actively learning interpersonal and other skills proves that you're a self-growth minded person, which is super awesome! According to your description, the pace of learning is smooth now, but you still feel anxious. In fact, this kind of anxiety is very normal, just because we want to progress faster and grow more, will produce this sense of urgency. But the key is to realize: a moderate amount of anxiety can propel us forward, but excessive will drag us back.
First of all, everyone grows at a different pace. There are no two leaves in the world that are the same, and you're right in your own time zone, not too early, not too late, and there's absolutely no need to compare your speed with anyone else's.
Growth is a lifelong process, and whether it's self-confidence, interpersonal skills, or a sense of humor, these skills take time to build up and can't be achieved overnight. Give yourself more patience and trust that time will bring change.
Best wishes (whale social worker 🐋)
