I was recently diagnosed with bipolar I disorder.
There have probably been dozens of episodes over the past three years.
I just went to the hospital in the last week and am now taking medication for it.
I'm currently a sophomore in high school, have taken a break from school, and am particularly interested in recovering as quickly as possible (I'd like to get much better within a few months at the most so that I don't do too poorly on my final exams and I don't have to repeat a grade). Can joining counseling speed up recovery? How much faster is it usually? Many thanks to the experts for taking the time to respond!
Hi, I'm counselor Shen Dan.
I understand where you are coming from: you want to get healthy as soon as possible, and especially you want to catch up with your studies. I can see that you take your studies very seriously.

Now let me answer your concern.
Question 1:Can counseling speed up the recovery process for bipolar disorder?
Answer 1: Facing and dealing with manic and depressive moods together in the company of a counselor can really promote recovery and help you improve your mood regulation skills.
Question 2:How much faster can I usually go?
A2: This depends on three key points: your current personal situation, how well the counselor knows you, and how well you work together.
At this stage of your life, the combination of medication + counseling can provide a more stable treatment effect.
So, it is recommended that you work on your feelings and pick a counselor that you get along with to work with.
I hope you get better step by step and achieve your goals.
